Free Baby Unicorn Amigurumi Crochet Pattern

This cute unicorn is made by crocheting the arms and legs on only the ears, horn and head to sew and the curls.


The body is made from the bottom up, joining the legs over two rounds, then the arms over one round, the ears, horn and mane will need sewing onto the head and the head sewn onto the body.

Written in US terms with abbreviations for UK terms

sc=single crochet (which is double crochet in UK)

inc=increase by crocheting two in the next stitch

dec=decrease by crocheting the next two stitches together

Materials

40g Dk / light worsted / weight 3 yarn in main colour

30g dk / light worsted yarn / weight 3 yarn in contrasting colour

Small amount of yellow/grey for horn

2mm for main parts and 3mm hook for curls I use this set from Amazon*

Black embroidery thread for eyelashes

8mm Safety eyes or black yarn for sewn on eyes

Polyester toy stuffing

Needle

All parts are made going round in a spiral apart from curls.

Small unicorn will measure approximately 11 inches from head to toe when finished (8 inches when sat) .

Ears 

Using main colour make 2

Rnd1 4 sc in a magic circle. (4)

Rnd4-7 sc all. (12)

Fasten off with a long end for sewing onto the head without stuffing.

Fold ears in half at the bottom and sew a few stitches to hold in place.

Pin ears 6 rounds above eyes with 9 stitches in between then sew when happy with position.


Horn 


Start with yellow

Rnd1 4 sc in a magic circle. (4)

Rnd2 *sc 1, inc* x 2. (6)

Rnd3-8 sc all. (6)

Fasten off leaving a long end for sewing onto the head and lightly stuff.

Sew in between the ears and the row below.

Mane

With a 3 mm hook using contrasting colours if you want the mane more straight just do one sc in each chain or two sc in each chain for curly.

Make 12 large curls 

Chain 41, sc 2 in second chain from hook and each stitch to end. (80)

Make 3 medium curls for tail

Chain 21, sc 2 in second chain from hook and each stitch to end. (40)

Make 2 small curls for front of head

Chain11, sc 2 in second chain from hook and each stitch to end. (20)

Sew 8 curls across top of head, then the other 4 spread out underneath, the 2 small ones at front at each ear and the medium 3 for a tail.
