Bee Applique
These little appliques are perfect for sewing onto baby clothing and blankets.
Materials
Small amounts of yellow and black / brown Dk / weight 3 yarn
3mm crochet hook I use this set from Amazon*
Written in English US terms with abbreviations for UK
sc = single crochet (double crochet in UK)
hdc = half double crochet (half treble crochet in UK)
dc = double crochet (treble crochet in UK)
ch = chain
* * = repeat between
slst = slip stitch
flo = front loop only (crochet into the front loop of the stitch)
Bee
Starting with yellow
Round 1: ch2 and 12 dc into a magic circle. slst to first.
Change to brown / black
Round 2: ch1, sc in the same, sc 5. Turn leaving the rest unworked.
Change to yellow
Round 3: ch1, hdc in the same, hdc 5. Turn
Change to brown / black
Round 4: ch1, sc in the same, sc 5. Turn
Change to yellow
Round 5: ch1, hdc in the same, hdc 5. Turn
Round 6: ch1, insert hook into same stitch, pull up a loop, *insert hook into next stitch, pull up a loop* x 4, 7 loops on hook, pull through all 7 loops.
Fasten off
Wings
Join white to the centre of yellow stripe
For the first wing, *ch6, hdc in the third chain from hook, 1 dc in the next 3, slst to same space* repeat for the second wing.
Fasten off.
Small Bee
Starting with yellow
Round 1: ch2 and 8 hdc into a magic circle, slst to first.
Change to brown / black
Round 2: ch1, slst in the same, slst 3. Turn leaving the rest unworked.
Change to yellow
Round 3: (in flo) ch1, hdc in the same, hdc 3. Turn
Change to brown / black
Round 4: ch1, slst in the same, slst 3. Turn
Change to yellow
Round 5: (in flo) ch1, hdc in the same, hdc 3. Turn
Round 6: ch1, insert hook into same stitch, pull up a loop, *insert hook into next stitch, pull up a loop* x 2, 5 loops on hook, pull through all 5 loops.
Fasten off.
Wings
Join white to the centre yellow stripe
For the first wing, *ch4, sc in the second chain from hook, hdc in the next, dc in the last, slst to same space* repeat for the second wing.
Fasten off.
