The premium pattern with pictures in sizes Preemie - 4 Years can be purchased as a PDF download here

This criss cross baby cardigan is made using a simple sc round then a crossed dc round and is quick and easy to work up.

Materials

260 metres dk / weight 3 yarn

4 mm crochet hook I use this set from Amazon*

5 x 15-20mm buttons

Written in English US terms with abbreviations for UK

sc = single crochet (double crochet UK)

dc = double crochet (treble crochet UK)

cc = criss cross (skip one, dc in next, go back and dc in the skipped stitch) (skip 1, tc in next, tc in skipped stitch UK)

ch = chain

dec = decrease (crochet 2 stitches together)

slst = slip stitch

[ ] = in the same stitch

Gauge Square

With a 4mm hook

Row 1: ch11, sc in 2nd ch from hook and each chain across. (10) Turn

Row 2: ch1, skip first, dc in next, dc in skipped stitch, *skip 1, dc in next, dc in skipped stitch* repeat x 3. (10) Turn

Row 3: ch1, sc in the same and each stitch across. (10) Turn

Row 4: ch1, skip first, dc in next, dc in skipped stitch, *skip 1, dc in next, dc in skipped stitch* repeat x 3. (10) Turn

Row 5: ch1, sc in the same and each stitch across. (10) Turn

Row 6: ch1, skip first, dc in next, dc in skipped stitch, *skip 1, dc in next, dc in skipped stitch* repeat x 3. (10) Turn

Square should measure 2” x 2”.

If you have problems hitting the length but the width is ok, try dc instead of hdc.

* Working in the first stitch ch1 does not count as a stitch so always ch1 and hdc in the first stitch.*
