Pick and Mix Wall Hanging

This wall hanging can be made using any of the pick and mix squares, there is farmyard, woodland and jungle animals, spooky squares and also Christmas to choose from. The links are at the top of this website. It will be a lovely wall hanging for a babies nursery or child’s bedroom making their favourite animals!

Materials

Dk / weight 3 yarn

4mm crochet hook

9” Wooden dowel

Scissors

Written in English US terms

sc = single crochet (double crochet in UK)

hdc = half double crochet (half treble crochet UK)

dc = double crochet (treble crochet UK)

slst = slip stitch

[ ] = in the same stitch

* * = repeat between

ch = chain

Small

The small size will measure approx 6” square excluding tassels.

Make the small / medium square here up to round 6.

Round 7: [ch3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] in the ch2 corner space, skip 2, *[3 dc] in the next, skip 2* repeat x 4, [3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] in the ch2 corner space, skip 2, *[3 dc] in the next, skip 2* x 4, repeat twice more, slst to the first stitch, slst to the ch2 corner space. (84) 

Round 8: [ch3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] in the ch2 corner space, [3 dc] in between each of the next six clusters below, *[3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] in the ch2 corner space, [3 dc] in between each of the next six clusters below* x 3, slst to the first stitch, slst to the ch2 corner space, slst to the stitch before ch2. (96) 

Continue to sc around the wooden dowel video here, then ch58, slst to the first stitch and fasten off.

Cut 28, 12” strands of yarn. Fold two strands of yarn in half and pull the center part way through the bottom of the square, so it's about an inch through forming a loop, then pull the tail ends of yarn through the loop and tighten. Skip one stitch and repeat across the bottom.

Large

The large size will measure approx 7.5” square excluding tassels.

Make the extra large square here up to round 8.

Round 9: [ch3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] in the ch2 corner space, skip 1, *[3 dc] in the next, skip 2* repeat x 7, [3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] in the ch2 corner space, skip 1, *[3 dc] in the next, skip 2* x 7, repeat twice more, slst to the first stitch, slst to the ch2 corner space. (108) 

Round 10: [ch3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] in the ch2 corner space, [3 dc] in between each of the next six clusters below, *[3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] in the ch2 corner space, [3 dc] in between each of the next eight clusters below* x 3, slst to the first stitch, slst to the ch2 corner space, slst to the stitch before ch2. (120) 

Continue to sc around the wooden dowel video here, then ch62, slst to the first stitch and fasten off.

Cut 32, 12” strands of yarn. Fold two strands of yarn in half and pull the center part way through the bottom of the square, so it's about an inch through forming a loop, then pull the tail ends of yarn through the loop and tighten. Skip one stitch and repeat across the bottom.
