Free Baby Red Panda Amigurumi Crochet Pattern

This red panda is fairly simple to make crocheting the legs and arms on, so the only sewing is the head, ears and tail.

Written in US terms with abbreviations for UK terms

sc=single crochet (double crochet UK)

inc=increase by crocheting two into next stitch

dec=decrease by crocheting the next two stitches together

ch=chain

Materials 

50g dk/light worsted rusty colour yarn 

20g dk/light worsted white yarn

10g dk/light worsted black yarn

A small amount of fluffy white yarn like (Bernat Pipsqueak)

3mm hook  I use this set from Amazon*

2mm hook

10mm Safety eyes or black yarn for sewn on eyes

Polyester toy stuffing

Needle 

Stitch marker

All parts are made going round in a spiral, attaching arms and legs as we go to make less sewing.

Red Panda will measure approximately 12 inches from head to toe when finished (9 inches when sat)


Head

Start in white

Place a marker between rounds 9 and 10 for safety eyes.

Attach safety eyes to head between rounds 9 and 10, around 9 stitches apart.

Fasten off and sew in ends.

Face details

With white fluffy yarn, sew some cheek patches, diagonal to the eyes 3-4cm long, do 3 stitches for each side, then sew smaller patches with one stitch above the eyes.

Sew a nose with black yarn 7th row down from the eyes, 3 stitches wide and 2 stitches down.


Ears 

Outside ear 

Make two using white fluffy yarn and 3mm hook

Row1 ch5, sc in second ch from hook and next 3. (4) Turn

Row2 sc all. (4) Turn

Row3 sc, dec, sc. (3) Turn

Row4 sc all three together. (1)

Fasten off.

Middle ear 

Make 2 using black yarn and 2mm hook

Row1 ch5, sc in second ch from hook and next 3. (4) Turn

Row2 sc all. (4) Turn

Row3 Sc, dec, sc (3) Turn

Row4 Sc all three together. (1)

Fasten off leaving a long end to sew onto white fluffy part. 

Sew the black ear middles in the centre of the fluffy main ear and sew in all ends.

Pin ears on the 7th row away from the eyes, 8 stitches apart and sew in place down the front then down the back of the ears, using the rust coloured yarn, make sure you stitch tight but if you can see any of your stitches when finished ruffle the fluff yarn to cover them up.
