Unicorn Dreams Hooded Jacket 6-12 Months

This Baby Hooded Jacket is crochet from the top down all in one so no sewing apart from the unicorn details and the ends!

sc=single crochet (which is double crochet in UK terms)

ch=chain

inc=increase

Materials

180g Paintbox yarns dk LoveCrafts paper white

Small amounts of dk for the unicorn details.

3, 3.5 & 4 mm hooks I use this set from Amazon*

4 x 15 mm buttons

 

Gauge Square

With 4 mm hook

Row1 Ch10, sc in 2nd ch from hook and each chain across. (9) Turn

Row2-8 ch1, sc in base of ch1, sc 8. (9) Turn

Square should measure 2 inches x 2 inches

If you're out with a 4mm hook try 4.5mm hook.


Size 6-12 months

Size to fit: 20 Inch chest 6-12 month Baby

Length from shoulder approx 12.5 Inches

Sleeve length from shoulder 11 inches

Hood should measure 6.75 inches

Slip stitch together from the inside, or sew if you prefer.

Button/Buttonhole Bands

 

Using 3.5mm hook

Row1 

With RS facing, join yarn at bottom of left side, ch1, hdc in base of ch1, hdc up left side, round hood and then down right side. Fasten off.

 

Row2

With rs facing join yarn where you started edging, ch1, sc, *ch1, sc* in each hdc and then along the bottom of the jacket, slst to first.

 

Fasten off, sew in all ends and sew buttons at which side you prefer.

Unicorn Details

3mm hook dk yarn

Horn

Rnd1 4 sc in magic circle. (4)

Rnd2 *sc 1, inc* x 2. (6)

Rnd3 sc all. (6)

Rnd4 *sc 2, inc* x 2. (8)

Rnd5-13 sc all. (8) 

Fasten off leaving a long end for sewing and Lightly stuff.


Ears

Make two

Rnd1 6 sc in magic circle. (6)

Rnd2 sc all. (6)

Rnd3 *inc* x 6. (12)

Rnd4 sc all. (12)

Rnd5 *sc1, inc* x 6. (18)

Rnd6-10 sc all. (18)


Fasten off leaving a long end for sewing Do not stuff, fold in half and put a couple of stitches in to hold in place before sewing to hood.


Flowers

Make Three 

Ch15

Rnd1 sc in second ch from hook and each ch across. (14) Turn

Rnd2 ch1, 5 hdc in base of ch1, slst in next, *5 hdc, slst in next* repeat to end. 

Fasten off leaving a long end for sewing and fold round into a rose shape and sew in place.


Leaves

 Make Two

Ch6, 1 sc in second ch from hook, hdc 1, 2 dc in next, hdc 1, sc 1, Ch2, slst into second ch,

working up the other side of the chain, sc 1, hdc 1, 2 dc in next, hdc 1, sc 1, slst to fasten off.
