Winter Bobble Cardigan Size 3-6 Months

This cardigan is worked in one piece starting from the top and working down, then joining to make the sleeves and edging.

Written in English US terms with abbreviations for UK terms

sc=single crochet (double crochet in UK terms)

tc=treble crochet (double treble crochet UK terms)

ch=chain

inc=increase 

dec=decrease

ws=wrong side

rs=right side

rpt=repeat

sk=skip next stitch

bs=Bobble stitch- (yarn over pull up a loop yarn over pull through 2 stitches), four times, you should have 5 stitches on hook yarn over and pull through all 5.

130 Paintbox Yarns dk LoveCrafts any shade

3.5 and 4mm hooks I use this set from Amazon*

4-6 x 15mm buttons

* Working in first stitch ch1 does not count as a stitch so always ch1 and sc in the first stitch*

Gauge Square

With 4mm hook

Row1 Ch10, sc in 2nd ch from hook and each chain across. (9) Turn

Row2-8 ch1, sc in base of ch1, sc 8. (9) Turn

Square should measure 2 inches x 2 inches

If you're out with a 4mm hook try 4.5mm hook.


Size 3-6 months

With 4mm hook Ch56 

Row1 1 sc in second ch from hook, 1 sc in each of next 54. (55) Turn

 

Row2 1 sc in second chain from hook, 1 sc in each of next 7, 3 sc in next, 1 sc in each of next 10, 3 sc in next, 1 sc in each of next 15, 3 sc in next, 1 sc in each of next 10, 3 sc in next, 1 sc in each of next 8. (63) Turn

Repeat Rows 23-30 until  work measures approx 10.5 Inches from shoulder, ending with row 26 or 30. 

 

Sleeves

 

With 4mm hook

Row1 join yarn to first un-worked sc under arm, ch1, 1 sc in base of ch1, 1 sc in each of next 31, slst to first sc on beginning of row. (32) Turn 

Row2-3 ch1, sc all, slst to first. (32) Turn

Row4  ch1, 1 sc in base of ch1, sc 2, *bs, sc 3, bs* repeat to end, slst to first. (32) Turn

Row5-7 ch1, sc all, slst to first. (32) Turn

Row8 ch1, 1 sc in base of ch1, bs *sc 3, bs* repeat to end, sc in last 2, slst to first. (32) Turn

Row9-11 ch1, sc all, slst to first. (32) Turn

Repeat rows 4-11 until the sleeve measures 9.5 inches from the shoulder, ending with a bobble row.

Cuffs 

Row1 ch1, *sc 3, dec* x 6, sc to end, slst to first. (26) Turn

Row2-3 ch1, sc all, slst to first. (26) Turn

Fasten off and repeat for the other sleeve. Button/Buttonhole Bands Cardigan All sizes

 

Button band

Using 3.5mm hook

Row1 With RS facing, join yarn to bottom of left hand side, ch1, 1 sc in base of ch1, sc evenly same amount of stitches as other side. Turn

 Row2 Ch1, sc in base of ch1 and each st across. Turn

 Row3 Ch1, sc in base of ch1 and each st across. 

Fasten off.


Buttonhole band

Row1 With RS facing, rejoin color 1 to the top of the right hand side of the front edge, ch1, 1 sc in base of ch1, work sc evenly across . Turn

 Mark out where you want the button holes, on the next row ch1 and skip the one where the markers are.

 Row2 Buttonhole row, Ch1, sc in base of ch1, sc all but ch1 and skip where markers are to create the button holes. Turn

 Row3 Ch1, sc in base of ch1 and sc in all including chains. 

 Fasten off and sew your buttons on to match the button holes and weave in all ends.
