Piggy

This cute piggy is worked in chunky chenille yarn so is super quick to work up! It comes in two sizes small and large, the small one can also be made with dk / weight 3 yarn to make a little key chain.

Written in English US terms with abbreviations for UK 

sc = single crochet (double crochet UK)

hdc = half double crochet (half treble crochet UK)

dc = double crochet (treble crochet UK)

blo = back loop only (crochet into the back loop of the stitch

inc = increase 

dec = decrease

ch = chain

Materials

For the large 70 metres of chunky weight 5 yarn (I used Knit & Purl baby yarn 95 metres per 100g ball) 

For the small 30 metres 

5mm hook I use this set from Amazon*

2 x 8-12mm Safety eyes

Black weight 3 yarn for the nostrils and eyebrows

Polyester toy stuffing

Needle 

Stitch marker

Pins 

Finished size of small pig is approx 3.5” tall and 5 long” and large pig 5” tall and 7” long

All parts are made going round in a spiral apart the tail.

Small pig

Head / Body

Round 1: 9 sc in magic circle. (9)

Round 2: (in blo) sc all. (9)

Round 3: sc all. (9)

Round 4: *inc* x 9. (18)

Round 5: *sc 2, inc* x 6. (24)

Round 6: *sc 3, inc* x 6. (30)

Place a marker for safety eyes between rows 4 and 5.

Round 7-8: sc all. (30)

Start stuffing and continue throughout

Round 9: sc 9, *dec* x 6, sc 9. (24)

Place safety eyes, between rounds 4 and 5, (in the center of the round) with 4 visible stitches between.

Round 10-13: Sc all. (24)

Round 14: *sc 2, dec* x 6. (18)

Round 15: *sc 1, dec* x 6. (12)

Round 16: *dec* x 6. (6) continue with tail

Tail

Ch7

Row 1: 2 sc in the second chain from hook and 2 sc in each chain, slst to next stitch. (12)

Fasten off and weave end through remaining stitches to close up.

With black yarn sew two black lines on the snout and add some eyebrows.

Ears


Make two

Round 1: 10 sc in magic circle. (10)

Round 2: sc 4, [sc, hdc, dc] in the next, [dc, hdc, sc] in the next, sc 4. (14)

Fasten off leaving a long end for sewing in place.

Sew ears between row 7 and 8 above the eyes.

Legs

Make four

Round 1: 6 sc in magic circle. (6)

Round 2: (in blo) sc all. (6)

Round 3: sc all. (6)

Fasten off leaving a long end for sewing and stuff.
