Free Crochet Poppy Pattern
This free poppy crochet pattern isquick and simple to make, I made using weight 3 yarn but it can be made in any weight yarn for smaller or bigger poppies.
Written in US terms with UK abbreviations
Dc = double crochet (treble crochet UK)
Hdc = half double crochet (half treble crochet UK)
Sc = single crochet (double crochet UK)
Slst = slip stitch
Ch = chain
Slst = slip stitch
Materials
Sparkly red / plain red dk / 8ply / light worsted yarn
Black dk / 8ply / light worsted yarn
3.5mm hook I use this set from Amazon*
Scissors
Needle
Pattern
Starting with black, ch4 and slst into the first chain to form a ring.
Rnd 1: ch1, hdc 16, join to top of first with slst. (16) Fasten off.
Change to red
Rnd 2: ch1, 2 dc in base of ch1, 2 dc in each of the next 3. Turn. (8)
Rnd 3: ch1, dc in base of ch1, 1 dc in next, 2 dc in each of the next 4, 1 dc in the last 2. Turn. (12)
Rnd 4: ch1, sc in base of ch1, *ch2, sc in next* repeat to end of petal, slst down side of the petal into the next stitch on round 1.
Repeat rounds 2-4 to make the next petal and repeat until 4 petals are made.
Sew in all ends.
