This cute little bobble dress is started from the waist and worked down, using a simple dc stitch for three rows then a bobble row, then joining yarn at the waist to work the bib in a sc rib stitch. It's quick and easy to work up.

Written in US terms with abbreviations for UK terms

sc=single crochet (double crochet in UK terms)

dc=double crochet (treble crochet in UK terms)

bs=Bobble stitch- (yarn over, insert hook into next stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 stitches), four times, you should have 5 stitches on hook, yarn over and pull through all 5.

blo=back loop only

ch=chain

inc=increase (2 dc in the next stitch)

slst=slip stitch

sk=skip

Length from shoulder approx 11 Inches

Materials 

90g dk/light worsted/ 8ply yarn for sizes preemie

3 and 4mm hook

2 x 15mm buttons

Gauge Square

With 4mm hook

Row 1: Ch12, dc in 4th ch from hook and each chain across. (9) Turn

Rows 2-4: ch1, dc in base of ch1, dc 8. (9) Turn

Square should measure 5 cm wide by 5 cm tall.

If you're out with a 4mm hook try 4.5mm hook.

If you have problems hitting the length this is not too important, as measurement will be given to follow.

*Always ch 1 or 2 and sc / dc in same to start row, unless stated*

Starting with the skirt

Using 4mm hook ch63, slst to first to form a circle. (63) Turn

Rounds 1-3: ch2, dc in same, dc all, slst to first (63) Turn

Round 4: ch1, *sc 2, bs* repeat to end, slst to first. (63) Turn

Round 5: ch2, dc in same, *dc 5, inc* x 9, dc 8, slst to first. (72) Turn

Rounds 6-7: ch2, dc in same, dc all, slst to first. (72) Turn

Round 8: ch1, *sc 2, bs* repeat to end, slst to first. (72) Turn

Round 9: ch2, dc in same, *dc 6, inc* x 9, dc 8, slst to first. (81) Turn

Rounds 10-11: ch2, dc in same, dc all, slst to first. (81) Turn

Round 12: ch1, *sc 2, bs* repeat to end, slst to first. (81) Turn

Rounds 13-15: ch2, dc in same, dc all, slst to first. (81) Turn

Repeat rows 12-15 until the skirt measures 7 inches.

Fasten off.

Dress ribbing front

Using 3mm hook

Join yarn 20 stitches to the left of center back and ch16

Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch back to edge of skirt, join to the next st of the edge of skirt using a slst then work one more slst into the next st (2 slsts in total for joining)  (15) Turn

Row 2: ch1, sc all in blo. (15) Turn

Row 3: (in blo) ch1, sc 2, ch1, sk 1 (button hole) sc back to edge of skirt, join to the next st of the edge of skirt using a slst then work one more slst into the next st (2 slsts in total for joining)  (15) Turn

Row 4: ch1, sc all in blo. (15) Turn

Row 5: (in blo) ch1, sc all back to edge of skirt, join to the next st of the edge of skirt using a slst then work one more slst into the next st (2 slsts in total for joining)  (15) Turn

Row 6: ch1, sc all in blo. (15) Turn

Repeat Rows 5-6 until you have worked 22 rows.

Row 23: (in blo) ch1, sc 2, ch1, sk 1 (button hole) sc back to edge of skirt, join to the next st of the edge of skirt using a slst then work one more slst into the next st (2 slsts in total for joining)  (15) Turn

Row 24: ch1, sc all in blo. (15) Turn

Dress ribbing side

Row 1: ch1, sc 3 in blo, leaving the rest unworked. (3) Turn

Row 2: (in blo) ch1, sc all back to edge of skirt, join to the next st of the edge of skirt using a slst then work one more slst into the next st (2 slsts in total for joining) (3) Turn

(for rows 4-6) Repeat rows 1 and 2. (until 6 rows total of 3 stitches)

Row 7: ch1, sc 3 in blo, ch33. (35)

Dress ribbing back

Row 1: sc in second ch from hook, sc next 31, sc in blo of next 3, join to the next st of the edge of skirt using a slst then work one more slst into the next st (2 slsts in total for joining) (35) Turn

Sew buttons at the end of each strap.
