Preemie Milan Romper

This cute little romper is made using hdc yoke then sc and dc stitches for the body and back to hdc for the crotch. There will be one button at the back of the neck to fasten and three buttons for the crotch.

Materials

60g dk weight 3 yarn (based on 276 meters per 100g ball)

4mm hook

4 x 10mm buttons

Gauge Square

With 4mm hook

Row 1: Ch11, hdc in 3rd ch from hook and each chain across. (9) Turn

Rows 2-5: ch1, hdc in base of ch1, hdc 8. (9) Turn

Square should measure just over 2 x 2 inches. If you're out with a 4mm hook try a 4.5mm hook. If you have problems hitting the length but the width is ok, try dc instead of hdc.

*Working in first stitch ch1 does not count as a stitch, so always ch1 and sc, hdc or dc in the first stitch, unless stated*

For rows 8 and 9, ch1 or ch3 counts as the first stitch.

Row 8: ch3, sc in next, *dc, sc* repeat to end, slst to top of ch3. (58) Turn

Row 9: ch1, dc in next, *sc, dc* repeat to end, slst to top of ch1. (58) Turn

Repeat Row 8 and 9 until work measures approximately 7.5 Inches from shoulder. Fasten off.

Back Crotch

With work upside down and back facing, count 15 stitches to the right of where fastened off, join yarn and ch1.

Front crotch

With work upside down and front facing, skip 2 stitches from the back crotch, join yarn and ch1

Row 1: hdc in base of ch1, hdc next 23. (24) Turn

Row 3: ch1, dec, hdc 18, dec. (20) Turn

Row 4: ch1, dec, hdc 16, dec. (18) Turn

To finish off ch1, sc all around leg openings and crotch, slst to first.

Sew three buttons at the bottom of the front crotch, the buttons should fit through the row ofhdc on the back crotch.

Shoulder to crotch should be 10.5 inches.
