Rainbow Wall Hanging Free Crochet Pattern

 This rainbow is made using cluster stitch and the seven colours of the rainbow.

Finished rainbow measures approx 10 inches wide and 6 inches tall (12 inches with tassels)


Written in English US terms with abbreviations for UK

dc=double crochet (which is treble crochet UK)

ch=chain

slst=slip stitch

sk=skip

Cl=Cluster stitch,yo, insert hook in st, yo, pull through st, yo, pull through 2 loops on hook, (yo, insert hook in same st, yo, pull through st, yo, pull through 2 loops on hook) 2 times, yo, pull through all 4 loops on hook, ch 1.

4mm hook I use this set from Amazon*

Rainbow coloured dk / light worsted / 8ply / size 3 yarn 

Scissors

Needle 

Tape measure

Can be made with any size yarn and hook of your choice to make smaller or larger.


Violet

Row1 Ch9, dc in 3rd ch from hook, cl in next, sk1, three cluster in next, sk1, cl in next, dc in next. Turn

Row2 Ch1, sc in base of ch1, *ch1, sc in between each cluster* sc in the very end. 


Fasten off.

Indigo 

Row3 Join yarn in the side of hdc on the first round, ch1, dc in base of ch1, cl in same space, 1 cl in next ch1 space, 2 cl in next ch1 space, 1 cl in next ch1 space, 2 cl in next ch1 space, 1 cl in next ch1 space, cl in the side of hdc from row 1, dc in same.

Tassels

Cut 6, 17 inch strands of yarn in each colour.


Fold three strands of yarn in half and pull the center part way through the dc stitch at the end of each row, so its about an inch through forming a loop, then pull the tail ends of yarn through the loop and tighten.

Repeat this twice for each colour.


Hanger


With red yarn find the centre four clusters insert hook on the right cluster and ch 30, slst to the left, fasten off and sew in ends.
